About Us

Elizabeth Roy Charms was conceived out of a lifetime passion for traditional charms and charm bracelets.

I was given my first gold charm at the age of eight, it was a small puffed violin and I was captivated with it. I can still remember the sense of wonder and delight I felt seeing that miniature representation of the real thing I’d just learned to play. That violin charm was my most treasured possession and I eagerly awaited the bracelet I knew one day I’d have to attach it to. That bracelet arrived when I turned eleven, and over the years my collection of charms grew with birthdays & Christmases, every charm marking a moment in my life. The original concept had been my father’s, out of a practical wish to provide some kind of security for me, something I could sell or pawn if I was ever in need, but I knew from the start that no matter how badly my life might go, that charm bracelet would be the last thing I’d ever part with!

I remember too being fascinated by my great-aunt's charm bracelet, it had larger charms than mine; a teacup & saucer, slightly dented with age, and a 'Mad Money' 10 shilling note, ubiquitous in the 60s & 70s. That sense of wonder at seeing objects crafted in perfectly detailed miniature has never left me, and each new charm still promotes that “Oh wow, look at that” moment. I love seeing charm bracelets on other women’s wrists too and always feel the urge to go over and engage them in conversation, to look through their bracelet and hear their life stories too.

And that’s the thing about charm bracelets of all kinds; they are more than decorative jewellery, they are memories in precious metal, bought to mark special moments or given to mark birthdays and anniversaries, they tell our stories and preserve them to be talked about & handed down as we show our bracelets to friends, children and grandchildren.

Over the years I’ve seen traditional charm bracelets go out of fashion, certainly in the UK, and I’m on a mission to bring them back. Establishing Elizabeth Roy Charms has been the fulfilment of a long-held dream, tracking down rare and unusual charms, fabulous miniatures that I can offer to people who also share a passion for charms, and hopefully inspire interest in those who’ve never had a traditional charm bracelet to begin their own.

There’s no other piece of jewellery that provides such beauty, style and sheer play value, not to mention that musical jingle as you move! And charm bracelets are not just for best, they add a touch of style to everything; the final touch to your formal outfit, or a playful accessory to jeans and a t-shirt.

So please come in and browse, enjoy, and see what takes your fancy.
