A large vintage solid 9ct yellow gold charm depicting a Barrel on a 'wood' trestle stand. The barrel opens and has a secure closure, there is nothing inside. It is inscribed with 'XXX' to both ends of the cask, which was typical of casks that were used to carry strong spirits such as rum.
Suitable for wearing on a larger bracelet, or perhaps on a watch chain, this charm is in good condition and beautifully detailed from the bung on the top of the barrel right down to the tap on the front.
It is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1965. There are some signs of wear to the top of the barrel at the tap end, these are visible under the strong magnification of our camera lens but don't notice as much with the naked eye - possibly once upon a time someone over-closed the barrel and then had a bit of a struggle to re-open it, but we've found it easy enough to open with just a thumbnail.
