A vintage solid 9ct yellow gold novelty Watch padlock, with 17 jewelled movement by the maker Craftsman.
The case was made by the British Watch Case Company and is fully hallmarked for Edinburgh 1963 with the maker’s mark to the interior of the case.
This is a delightful and very rare piece, it’s a working watch that runs for 12 hours on a full wind, so clearly it’s intended to wear for a special day or evening out, rather than all day, every day. We’ve run this watch for a number of days now, and in our experience it’s keeping pretty much perfect time, which we think is impressive for a 1963 watch.
The padlock mechanism is in good working order too and closes securely, it even has a ring for a safety chain so this gorgeous little watch could be attached to a bracelet, or worn as a pendant if preferred.
